the "blue sense", 블루 센스 (경찰의 육감)

"블루 센스"란, 경찰의 육감이다. 임박한 위험을 알아내거나, 용의자가 유죄인지 어떤지를 판단하거나, 누군가가 거짓말을 하고 있는지 아닌지 판단하거나, 사건이나 인물에 관한 직관을 의미하는 육감이다. 라이온스와 트루지는 "블루 센스"라는 단어를, 우수한 경찰관이 갖는 감각으로서, 거의 초능력과 유사한 것으로 언급하고 있다. 경찰관이 보고 듣고, 냄새 맡는 것을 넘어서 의사결정을 할 때 블루 센스가 많은 부분 포함된다고 말하고 있다. ''(Lyons and Truzzi, p. 11)

조사를 통해서 "블루 센스"를 검증하지는 못했지만, 몇몇 경찰을 포함해서 일부 사람들은, 다른 사람들의 행동이나 얼굴 표정을 통해서 그들의 감정, 의도 및 생각하는 것을 꽤 믿을 만하게 추론할 수 있다는 좋은 증거가 있다. (Eckman and Friesen1975; Eckman and Rosenberg 1979).
